About Envelope Stories

ENVELOPE STORIES ™
is a literary publisher.

We publish fiction and non-fiction.
What we publish, we show to movie producers
and to all Rhode Islanders—tweens to seniors.

Each Envelope Story is
published singly:

Each is set in the ocean state of Rhode Island.
Each has only 1000 words (+/- a few).
Each is printed on a galley proof.
Each is written in the first-person.
Each retails for 99¢.
Each reads like a six-minute film treatment.

We started Envelope Stories
in 2013.

We published stories set in Rhode Island.
If we got a manuscript we loved, we published it.
For all our editing or publishing writers paid zero.
Nada nada. Still do.

Envelope Stories are gifts. Literary gifts.

We don’t publish essays, polemics, or porn.
We publish stories for you to share with friends.
Retailers applaud our 99¢ impulse-item price.

We believe to write a story (both fiction and non-fiction)

Our editorial requirements are three-fold:
• Story must be 1000 words or less (+/- a few)
• Story must be written in first-person
• Story must be set in Rhode Island

Each Envelope Story is published singly:
• Each is printed on a galley proof
• Each retails for 99¢
• Each reads quicker than a six-minute kiss

Stories set in local municipalities get read.
Movie producers agree, so make the most of that.
We sell to a general audience, i.e., our neighbors.
Porn and/or gratuitous violence are not for us.

What does "written in first-person" mean?
When a story is told to the reader by a character
in the story, it is “written in first-person.” Like …

Can’t recall how I first found myself speaking to her,
but believe me, it was not about hitting on her.
I’ve no confidence with girls who have confidence.
